Do to cultural stigmas, getting married in Haiti is a huge financial burden. Not just for the ceremony, but culturally the husband to-be is to provide a home, bed, table, rings, etc, or the woman will not consider the marriage. The wedding ceremony itself is a statement before the community, bringing honor to the couple and their family. It’s a rarely accepted practice to just get married before a judge. For this reason, many Haitians will live together, even have multiple children, but will not be able to take the step of obedience and get married before God. HBM wants to help couples honor God by getting married, and subsequently get God’s blessing over their families and communities! Pastor Eldet Tine, director of our Haiti Operations is especially passionate about seeing these couples succeed in marriage. The couples receive premarital counseling and mentorship in addition to our financial support for their marriage.
Here’s where you come in! We are looking to put on several multi-couple wedding celebrations over the next several months. We need donations of wedding dresses, men’s suits, wedding accessories such as veils, tiara’s etc, and wedding bands. We also need your financial contributions! We are hoping to raise $500 per couple, with 30 couples already on our waiting list. That’s a huge feat, but we want to do this with excellence and we really believe these couples deserve this investment. The money will not only go to the wedding ceremony (a small reception, licensing/blood tests required by Haiti, officiant costs, decorations, rings, etc), but we are also looking to provide each couple with a substantial gift such as a bed, table, business start-up stipend, etc.

Agape Flights is a ministry organization that supports ministries overseas. In order to offset our shipping costs for the dress/suit donations, we are asking that you would consider a donation to help cover these costs. We estimate that an average wedding dress will cost about $25 to ship to Haiti. Donations for shipping wedding clothing can be made through the website.
